• New Photo Added

A new photo has been added to the Recently Added page. The photo is from Jim Robertson and he says.

“I  recently came across this old photo, I think the four gentlemen were on a bus trip from their local. I recognise my grandfather Jimmy Robertson second from the right, on his left is Andrew Stark, he had a workshop behind the Goth. Do you think anyone would be able to identify the other two passengers.”

If you can help with the identification of the men in this photo please get in touch.

    Many thanks.

  • A Moment in Time

Today was a very special day at Benarty Centre. Children representing St. Kenneth’s RC Primary School and Benarty Primary School gathered at the Centre along with members of Benarty Heritage Preservation Group and other guests to watch as the Benarty time capsule was lowered into a specially made chamber at the main entrance of the building. The time capsule was a project undertaken by Benarty Heritage Preservation Group and contains artefacts relating to the Benarty area.  These include photographs, local and national newspapers, school uniforms, information relating to the community centre and the area.

Jim Campbell from BHPG said “The time capsule contains a lot of artefacts and information relating to life today in the Benarty area as well as some national information. We hope that when it is opened in 2063 the people of Benarty will have a good idea of what it was like to live in the area in 2013.”

The capsule will remain underground for 50 years and is due to be opened in June 2063.
